Our read on this product
The primary reason to snap this on is to stop worrying about the inevitable dings and surface scratches that happen when you slide your laptop into a crowded bag. It adds a thin, matte layer that feels more secure in your hands than the bare aluminum, which can be surprisingly slippery.
Because it is a simple two-piece shell, you can put it on or take it off in seconds without needing any tools. It stays out of the way of your ports and hinges, meaning you can open the screen fully without the case catching or preventing the lid from closing properly.
What makes it stand out
- The specific model-matching system ensures a precise fit that doesn't obstruct the ports or the hinge movement.
- The rubberized texture provides a tactile grip that the smooth aluminum chassis lacks.
When this isn't the right fit
- You prefer the look and feel of the bare metal finish.
- You frequently use bulky, clip-on accessories that require a perfectly flush surface.
- You have a different laptop model, as these are precision-molded for specific versions and will not fit others.
Real-world notes
- The matte finish tends to show fingerprints less than the raw aluminum.
- The rubberized coating provides a noticeable improvement in grip when carrying the laptop one-handed.
- The vent slots on the bottom are positioned to keep the machine running cool during standard tasks.
Pick this up if you want to keep your laptop looking new without adding the bulk of a heavy-duty sleeve.
