Our read on this product
This AC1200 extender aims to blanket your home in a stronger signal, promising to banish those frustrating spots where your internet just gives up. It’s designed to connect to your existing router and push that signal further, offering up to 1500 square feet of expanded coverage. Plus, with an Ethernet port, you can even get a wired connection for devices that need it most.
Setup is straightforward with a one-touch connection, and the TP-Link Tether app offers a user-friendly way to manage your network. While it won’t magically increase your internet speed beyond what your provider offers, it focuses on making your existing signal more stable and reliable throughout your home, which is often the real bottleneck.
What makes it stand out
- Its dual-band AC1200 speeds offer a good balance for everyday use, outperforming single-band extenders that can bottleneck your connection.
- The inclusion of an Ethernet port provides a stable wired connection option, which many basic extenders lack.
- EasyMesh compatibility allows for a more integrated whole-home network experience when paired with a compatible router, avoiding the need for separate network names.
When this isn't the right fit
- This extender will not increase your internet speed beyond your ISP’s plan limitations.
- It is not designed for mesh WiFi systems like TP-Link’s own Deco line, so ensure compatibility if you have one.
Real-world notes
- You’ll appreciate how it extends coverage to those previously unreachable nooks and crannies.
- Expect a more stable connection in areas where your router’s signal was previously weak or nonexistent.
- The external antennas can be adjusted to fine-tune signal direction and strength.
If your main goal is a more consistent signal across your home, this extender is a practical solution.
