Our read on this product
This TCL TV aims to bring the cinema home, and it largely succeeds with its sheer scale and advanced display tech. The 98-inch screen, combined with Mini-LED backlighting and an impressive number of dimming zones, means you get deep blacks and vibrant colors that make movies and games feel incredibly immersive. It's the kind of screen that genuinely changes how you experience content, making even familiar scenes feel new again.
Beyond the visual spectacle, the inclusion of Bang & Olufsen audio suggests a commitment to a complete sensory experience, aiming to match the picture's quality with rich sound. For gamers, the 144Hz refresh rate and FreeSync Premium Pro support are key, promising smooth, responsive gameplay that can give you an edge. It’s built for those who want their living room to be the ultimate entertainment hub, a place where visual and auditory fidelity are paramount.
What makes it stand out
- Its massive 98-inch screen offers a scale that few other televisions can match, providing a truly cinematic viewing area.
- The Mini-LED technology with a high number of dimming zones and peak brightness delivers superior contrast and color depth compared to standard LED TVs.
- The 144Hz native refresh rate is a significant advantage for gamers seeking smoother motion and reduced input lag over TVs with lower refresh rates.
- Integrated Bang & Olufsen audio aims to provide a more premium sound experience out-of-the-box than typical built-in TV speakers.
When this isn't the right fit
- If you have limited space, a 98-inch screen might overwhelm your room.
- The advanced features, while impressive, may be more than casual viewers need.
Real-world notes
- The sheer size of the screen is the most immediate and impactful observation, making most other TVs feel small by comparison.
- Picture quality holds up even in brighter rooms thanks to the high brightness and advanced color filtering.
- The integrated AI features, while numerous, can sometimes feel like overkill, though they do enhance the viewing experience for specific content.
Consider this television if your priority is a truly grand, high-fidelity home theater and gaming experience.
