Our read on this product
This set is less about the figures themselves and more about the inside joke it preserves for long-time fans. By intentionally recreating the famous name-swap error from the original Kenner line, it shifts from a standard shelf piece to a piece of meta-commentary on the history of toy collecting.
You are paying for the specific, intentional nod to a decades-old manufacturing mistake that has become legendary within the community. It functions as a conversation starter because it rewards those who know the lore, while still providing the high-end articulation and paint work expected from the modern Black Series line.
What makes it stand out
- Features the historically accurate name-swap error from the original Kenner line, serving as a meta-narrative for collectors.
- Combines two distinct bounty hunter characters in a single package, avoiding the need to hunt for them individually.
Real-world notes
- The packaging error is the primary focal point, making it a distinct choice for display-focused collectors.
- Articulation matches the modern standard, ensuring the figures hold poses well on a shelf.
- The inclusion of two bounty hunters in one box simplifies the process of filling out a display of Empire Strikes Back characters.
Pick this up if you want a display piece that acknowledges the quirks of toy history rather than just another standard character release.
