Our read on this product
You're looking for a way to upgrade your home security and convenience, and this smart lock offers a solid path to keyless entry and remote access. It integrates with Z-Wave systems, meaning it can become part of a larger smart home setup, allowing you to control your door lock from your phone or through voice commands with compatible assistants. The auto-lock feature is a subtle but significant convenience, ensuring your door is secured behind you without a second thought, which can be a real peace of mind.
Beyond the core smart features, the inclusion of Kwikset's SmartKey Security system for re-keying is a practical advantage. If you ever need to change your locks, whether due to a lost key or a move, you can do it yourself without needing a locksmith, saving time and hassle. The touchscreen is responsive and backlit, making it easy to use even in low light, and the SecureScreen technology helps prevent code detection from fingerprints, adding an extra layer of security to the keypad.
What makes it stand out
- Integrates with Z-Wave smart home systems for broader automation, unlike basic electronic deadbolts.
- Features Kwikset's SmartKey Security for easy re-keying, a capability not found on all smart locks.
- Includes SecureScreen technology to minimize fingerprint visibility on the keypad, enhancing security.
When this isn't the right fit
- Requires a Z-Wave hub for full smart home integration and remote access.
- The electronics warranty is limited to one year, though the mechanical components are covered for life.
Real-world notes
- The auto-lock feature is often cited as a surprisingly useful daily convenience.
- Users appreciate the ability to easily program unique codes for family, friends, or service providers.
- The touchscreen is generally responsive, though some users note it can be sensitive to moisture.
Consider this smart lock if you're ready to ditch your keys for a more connected and convenient home entry experience.
