Our read on this product
This speaker is designed to be a statement piece, blending a 1970s aesthetic with modern smart capabilities. It offers a robust audio experience with stereo sound, deep bass from its woofer and passive radiator, and clarity from its tweeters, all housed in a design that features an aluminum frame and a leather-like enclosure. Beyond just playing music, it integrates seamlessly with smart home ecosystems, allowing voice control through both Google Assistant and Alexa simultaneously, and offers versatile streaming options via Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
The real appeal here is how it bridges the gap between wanting a smart speaker and desiring a piece of decor. It’s not just another black or white cylinder; it’s built to be seen and heard, with tactile controls for volume, bass, and treble right on the unit. This blend of nostalgic design and contemporary tech means it can anchor a room's style while still providing the convenience of a voice-controlled smart hub and high-fidelity audio.
What makes it stand out
- Its retro-inspired design with aluminum frame and leather-like enclosure stands out against the typical modern smart speaker aesthetic.
- Offers simultaneous support for both Google Assistant and Alexa, providing broader voice control options than many single-assistant smart speakers.
- Built-in Wi-Fi streaming through services like AirPlay, Chromecast, and Spotify Connect offers more direct music access than basic Bluetooth-only speakers.
When this isn't the right fit
- If you prioritize portability or a minimalist, modern design, this might not be the best fit.
Real-world notes
- The ability to control bass and treble directly on the speaker is a nice touch that many smart speakers omit.
- Having both Google Assistant and Alexa available simultaneously offers a lot of flexibility for smart home control.
This is a confident pick for anyone prioritizing both a distinctive aesthetic and capable smart audio.
