Our read on this product
This renewed Pixel 9 Pro XL offers a compelling entry into Google's flagship AI and camera ecosystem. It’s built around the Tensor G4 chip, which powers unique AI features that can genuinely simplify tasks, from photo editing to managing your digital life. The large 6.8-inch display is vibrant and smooth, making everything from browsing to watching videos an enjoyable experience, and the substantial 256GB of storage means you won't be constantly managing files.
While it has an impressive camera system with four lenses and advanced pro controls for precise adjustments, the real magic is how Google's software integrates with the hardware. Expect AI to assist in capturing stunning photos and videos, often with less effort than traditional methods. The adaptive battery aims for all-day performance, with an extreme saver mode extending it significantly, though real-world usage can vary. This phone is a strong contender if you value Google's intelligent software and a top-tier camera experience in a large-screen device.
What makes it stand out
- Leverages Google's AI for unique photo editing and task management features not found on other Android phones.
- Offers advanced pro camera controls for manual adjustments, appealing to those who want more creative control over their shots.
- Provides a large, immersive 120Hz LTPO OLED display for a smooth and vibrant visual experience.
- Comes with a substantial 256GB of internal storage, reducing the need for cloud storage or frequent file management.
When this isn't the right fit
- The bootloader cannot be unlocked on carrier-unlocked models, which may limit advanced customization for developers.
- While the battery life is generally strong, heavy users may find they need to charge before the end of a very long day.
Real-world notes
- Owners often find the AI-powered camera features, like Magic Eraser and Best Take, genuinely useful for improving their photos after the fact.
- The large display is a significant draw for media consumption and productivity, though it can make one-handed use challenging for some.
- The promise of seven major software updates means this device should remain current and secure for years to come.
Consider this phone if you prioritize Google's AI-driven camera and software experience in a large, premium package.
