Our read on this product
Moving your cichlids onto an insect-based diet mimics the foraging behavior they exhibit in the wild, which often results in more vigorous activity and better color development. By using Black Soldier Fly Larvae as the primary protein instead of generic fillers, this food provides a dense nutritional profile that supports long-term health rather than just basic survival.
The slow-sinking granules are designed to reach different levels of the aquarium, ensuring that fish feeding at various depths have equal access to the meal. Because the formula is built around sustainably sourced larvae, you will likely notice less waste and clearer water compared to cheaper, grain-heavy alternatives that break down quickly.
What makes it stand out
- Black Soldier Fly Larvae is the primary ingredient, providing a more natural protein source than the corn or soy fillers found in standard flakes.
- The slow-sinking granule format prevents the mess often associated with rapidly dissolving flakes or floating pellets.
When this isn't the right fit
- You are looking for a bargain-bin option and are not concerned with the long-term nutritional profile of your fish.
- Your specific cichlid species requires a strictly herbivorous diet, as this is formulated for omnivorous tropical fish.
Real-world notes
- The granules sink at a moderate pace, allowing fish to catch them throughout the water column rather than waiting for them to hit the gravel.
- The packaging keeps the food fresh, and the small batch processing seems to result in a consistent texture that fish readily accept.
Pick this up if you want to shift your cichlids to a more biologically appropriate diet that emphasizes protein quality over filler volume.
